Today’s conversation is quite spiritual but I really love the principle of karma. Karma is an Eastern methodology that means what you give, is what you receive. I believe if you’re not getting what you want out of life it’s because you haven’t given life enough to receive what you want.
A guy left the corporate world to start his own business so he could spend time with his 7 year old son. Three months later he discovered just how tough it is. One day just before a big investor meeting where he was going to put everything on the line, his son walks in and says, “Daddy! I want to play.”
Now he is in conflict. He has to prepare for the meeting but the whole reason he’s doing this is to spend more time with his son. He takes a large world map, tears it into pieces and says, “Son once you’ve stuck it back together we’ll play.” He thinks it’s ingenious because it’ll take his son a couple of hours.
To his surprise, about 20 minutes later his son had put it back together perfectly.
“How did you do that?” he asked curiously.
“It was simple pops,” the son replied, “I just saw there was a man on the back. If I could put the man back together, the world would fit back into place.”
Through my coaching work, I realise time and again that the people who desperately want change, often aren’t willing to work on themselves. They want the world and everyone around them to change so their lives can be better. However that takes control completely out of their hands.
This week, I want you to reflect and ask yourself, “what is it that I want written on my tombstone?” At the end of the day, life is going to end and your legacy will be the result of how you live today.
Remember, Karma is what you give to life, you receive and it works in mysterious ways.
Keep working on what you’re giving out because you too, can change the game.
